Halal Restaurants in Halong 2026: Verified Places in Bai Chay & Where to Pray

Where can Muslim travellers eat halal in Halong? In October 2026 we could verify only two halal restaurants in Ha Long, both in Bai Chay: RedCoral Halong Indian Halal Restaurant on Phan Chu Trinh Street, which says it is halal certified and has a prayer space, and Sri Rembau, a Malaysian halal restaurant on Cai Lan Street. Two halal restaurants that older guides still list, Nan n Kabab Ha Long and Francesca, are now permanently closed. Two popular Indian restaurants use halal meat but are linked to alcohol, so we list them separately.

This page is a directory: where each halal restaurant in Ha Long is, when it opens, how it rates on Tripadvisor and Google, and how to find it on the map. If you want to know which Ha Long seafood dishes are safe to eat and how meals work on a cruise, read our sister guide Halal Food in Halong Bay: seafood, cruise meals and what to eat.

Ratings checked on Tripadvisor and Google Maps in October 2026. Opening hours change, especially in the low season, so check the map link before you go.

How We Checked These Halal Restaurants

We started from every restaurant in Ha Long that calls itself halal on Google Maps, Tripadvisor and halal travel guides, then checked whether each one is still open, whether it serves alcohol and what evidence there is of a halal kitchen. We kept only restaurants with no sign of alcohol and recent reviews. Ranking uses Tripadvisor first, weighted by the number of reviews, then Google Maps. We show ratings, not review counts, because counts change every week.

Removed because they are closed: Nan n Kabab Ha Long (Sun World area, Bai Chay), which in 2025 became the first restaurant in Quang Ninh to receive national HALCERT certification, and Francesca Indian Halal Restaurant (Cap Be Street, Hon Gai). Google Maps lists both as permanently closed.

After Vietnam’s 2025 administrative merger, the former Hung Thang, Bai Chay and nearby wards are now part of Bai Chay ward, so new maps may show “Phuong Bai Chay”.

The Best Halal Restaurants in Halong, Ranked

1. RedCoral Halong Indian Halal Restaurant

The best-established halal restaurant in Ha Long and the only one that appears under Tripadvisor’s halal filter for Ha Long Bay. RedCoral describes itself as the first halal restaurant in the city, says its kitchen has been inspected and certified by a Vietnamese halal body, and offers a space for prayer. Halal Vietnam’s register lists a certificate for RedCoral that expired in January 2025; ask to see the current one. The menu covers Indian, Pakistani, Middle Eastern, Indonesian and Malaysian dishes, and it opens early enough for breakfast before cruise check-in.

2. Sri Rembau Restaurant (Malaysian Halal)

Malaysian travellers at Sri Rembau, a Malaysian halal restaurant on Cai Lan Street, Bai Chay.

A long-running Malaysian halal restaurant on the third floor of 179 Cai Lan Street, popular with Malaysian travellers for its home-style cooking. The owner speaks English, and recent Google reviews describe it as a good halal option in Ha Long. The same address is shared with an Indian family restaurant, so if a separate halal kitchen matters to you, ask the staff before ordering.

  • Address: 3rd floor, 179 Cai Lan Street (Hai Quan junction), Bai Chay
  • Cuisine: Malaysian, Indonesian and Vietnamese halal dishes
  • Opening hours: Until about 22:00; check opening time on Google Maps
  • Halal status: Describes itself as a Malaysian halal restaurant; shares the building with an Indian restaurant, so ask how the kitchen is run
  • Good for: Malaysian home cooking and tom yam; delivery to hotels
  • Tripadvisor rating: ★ 4.7/5 – Read Sri Rembau Restaurant reviews on Tripadvisor
  • Google Maps rating: ★ 4.2/5 – Open Sri Rembau Restaurant in Google Maps

Indian Restaurants with Halal Meat That Are Linked to Alcohol

These two restaurants are among the best rated in Ha Long and say they use halal meat, but each is linked to alcohol. We do not rank them as halal; if you go, ask about alcohol and the kitchen first.

Indian Master Food Halal Restaurant

One of the highest-rated Indian restaurants in Bai Chay, on the main seafront road. The food is well reviewed, but because of its link to a bar we do not rank it with the halal restaurants above. Ask whether alcohol is served in the dining room before you sit down.

The One Indian Halong Restaurant

A small, very highly rated Indian kitchen in the Cai Dam residential area behind Bai Chay. It is a good choice for vegetarian Indian food, but it serves alcohol, so it does not meet a strict halal standard.

  • Day cruises: shared day boats have no halal kitchen. On our Halong Muslim Tour 1 Day, lunch on board is seafood with no meat and no alcohol, or a halal lunch in Ha Long city on request.
  • Overnight cruises: some cruises hold a Halal Vietnam certificate for halal or Muslim-friendly service, including Lyra Grandeur, Catherine and Diana; Mon Chéri is renewing its certificate. Compare them on our Halong Bay halal cruises page.
  • Breakfast before boarding: RedCoral opens at about 07:00, early enough before most cruise check-ins.

There is no mosque in Ha Long or anywhere in Quang Ninh province. The only mosque in northern Vietnam is Al-Noor Mosque in Hanoi, about 2.5 to 3 hours away by expressway. In Ha Long, RedCoral offers a prayer space, and certified overnight cruises such as Catherine have a prayer room on board. Most hotels can provide the qibla direction on request.

Practical Tips for Eating Halal in Halong

  • Halal choice is small. Book a table or order ahead in the high season, especially for groups.
  • Eat dinner by about 21:30. Halal kitchens in Bai Chay close around 22:00 to 23:00.
  • Ask about alcohol and the kitchen. No Ha Long restaurant publishes a certificate number, so ask if it matters to you.
  • Seafood is not automatically halal-safe. Ordinary seafood restaurants share woks and oil with pork; see our guide to halal food in Halong Bay.
  • Cat Ba has no verified halal restaurant. Plan meals on a halal-certified cruise instead.

We could not verify any halal restaurant on Cat Ba Island. If you stay there, choose a halal-certified overnight cruise or ask your tour operator to arrange meals in advance.
