Halal Food and Muslim Travel Notes
- Certificate: Halal Vietnam certificate HVN-OIC/SMIIC-2024-148 for Muslim Friendly Service, first issued on 18 February 2025; the register lists it as valid to 22 July 2027. Halal menus follow OIC/SMIIC standards.
- Restaurants: Harmonia and Ambrosia serve the halal menus; brunch is on the 2nd deck. Vegetarian meals are available if you ask when booking.
- Prayer room: Catherine is one of the few Halong Bay cruises with a dedicated Muslim prayer room, laid with prayer mats. Prayer times are not fixed in the programme.
- Alcohol: drinks are not included and are paid at the bars on board.
- Mosque: Al-Noor Mosque on Hang Luoc Street in Hanoi is the only mosque in northern Vietnam, so there is no mosque in Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay; many guests visit Al-Noor Mosque before or after the cruise. Prayer times are not fixed in the cruise programme, and you can pray in your cabin.

Who This Cruise Suits – and Who Should Choose Another
Choose Catherine Cruise if a prayer room on board matters to you, you are travelling with older relatives who need a lift, or it is your first visit and you want to see Sung Sot Cave and Ti Top Island.
Choose another cruise if you prefer quieter Lan Ha Bay from day one (Mon Cheri Cruise or Diana Cruise) or want a water slide and Nordic sauna (Lyra Grandeur Cruise).
Is 3 Days 2 Nights on Catherine Cruise Worth It?
Yes, if you have the time. The 2-day trip covers central Halong Bay; the third day takes you by day boat into Lan Ha Bay for kayaking, a beach and a pearl farm, so you see both bays on one halal cruise without changing ship.

Customize Your Halal Cruise
- Transfers: limousine or private car from Hanoi (about 2.5–3 hours), quoted separately.
- Older travellers: ask for a Premier Suite near the lift.
- Longer trip: combine the cruise with the Hanoi – Tam Coc – Halong Bay Muslim tour or a Hanoi Muslim tour 5 days.
Local Expert Notes
- The climb to the Ti Top viewpoint is about 400 steps and the lift does not go there; the beach below is an easy alternative.
- Sung Sot Cave is cooler and quieter early in the day.
- Bring a waterproof phone bag and non-slip shoes for the caves.
