How We Checked and Ranked These Restaurants

Hanoi has dozens of places that call themselves halal or “Muslim-friendly”, and some of them serve beer or cook halal meat in the same kitchen as pork. We only list a restaurant when at least one of these is true and nothing we found contradicts it:

  • Halal-certified: the restaurant holds a certificate from a named halal body, such as Halal Vietnam (HVN) or Halal Medina UZK.
  • Muslim-owned: the owners or kitchen are Muslim, which reviewers and listings confirm.
  • Self-declared halal: the restaurant states that all its food is halal, with no sign of pork or alcohol on the menu.

We left out restaurants whose halal status we could not confirm, places flagged by Muslim diners as not halal, and restaurants with no recent reviews. Restaurants with an established Tripadvisor rating are ranked first, by score and how many travellers have reviewed them; places that are newer on Tripadvisor or not listed follow, ranked by their Google Maps rating.

Halal-Certified Restaurants in Hanoi

Only a few restaurants in Hanoi can show a halal certificate from a named body. As of October 2026 they are:

  • d’LIONS Restaurant, 92 Le Duan Street: Halal Vietnam certificate HVN2024-20, first approved in 2012.
  • Hanoi Halal Restaurant, Phu Dien: Halal Vietnam certificate HVN-OIC/SMIIC-2025-201, valid until 1 August 2027, with a prayer room on site.
  • Nan n Kabab (Old Quarter), 34 Lo Ren Street: Halal Vietnam certificate HVN-OIC/SMIIC-2026-253, valid until 19 September 2027.
  • Halal Food Abdul Karim, 2B Hang Khoai Street: certified by Halal Medina UZK in 2025.

Batavia and Sanur Resto also state that they are halal-certified, and Zaynab and Pho Muslim are listed as certified by the HalalGo Vietnam directory. Most other halal restaurants in Hanoi are Muslim-owned kitchens that buy halal meat from certified suppliers.

Indian Restaurants in Hanoi with Halal Meat (Alcohol Served)

Hanoi’s best-known Indian restaurants say they use halal meat, and many Muslim travellers from Malaysia, India and the Gulf eat there. They are not on our main list because they also serve beer, wine or spirits, and most are not Muslim-owned or certified. If a halal-meat standard is enough for you, these are the most popular:

Practical Tips for Eating Halal in Hanoi

  • Call or message first. Restaurants in Hanoi open, move and change owners often, and several halal kitchens close in the afternoon or open later on Fridays.
  • Look for the certificate. Where a restaurant claims certification, check the company name, address and expiry date on the wall.
  • Ramadan: most halal restaurants stay open for iftar and dinner, but some Muslim-run kitchens shorten lunch hours. Ask about iftar sets.
  • Delivery: Grab Food and ShopeeFood list some halal restaurants; order by restaurant name from this guide rather than relying on a “halal” tag.
  • Noi Bai Airport: International Terminal 2 has a prayer room on Level 2 near Gate 37, after immigration. We could not confirm a halal-certified food outlet at the airport, so eat before you leave the city.
  • Know the dishes: ordinary pho, banh mi and fried rice are not halal; see what Muslims can eat in Hanoi, dish by dish.
