How We Checked These Halal Restaurants
We started from every restaurant in Sapa that calls itself halal on Google Maps, Tripadvisor and halal travel guides, then kept only places with clear evidence of a halal kitchen and recent reviews. We removed places that serve alcohol, places that are only “Muslim-friendly”, outlets we could not confirm are open, and listings with conflicting information. Ranking uses Google Maps rating weighted by the number of reviews, because no halal restaurant in Sapa yet has ten or more Tripadvisor reviews. We show ratings, not review counts, because counts change every week.
Sapa is now part of Sa Pa ward, Lao Cai province, after Vietnam’s 2025 administrative merger, so new maps and signs may show “Phuong Sa Pa”.

Where to Pray in Sapa
We found no mosque in Sapa or in Lao Cai province. The nearest is Al-Noor Mosque in Hanoi, the only mosque in northern Vietnam. In Sapa, the practical options are restaurant prayer rooms:
- Sapa Rasa Sayang Halal Buffet – surau on the second floor (775 Dien Bien Phu Street).
- Hajah Hawa Sapa Halal Restaurant – surau upstairs (016 Thac Bac Street).
- Sapa Halal Pak Tam – spacious prayer room (025 Thac Bac Street).
Ask politely before using a prayer room if you are not eating there. For Muslim-friendly hotels in Sapa, see our sister guide Halal Food in Sapa.
Practical Tips for Eating Halal in Sapa

- Eat in town, not in the villages. Cat Cat, Lao Chai and Ta Van and Ta Phin have no halal restaurants. Order a packed lunch from a Thac Bac Street restaurant the evening before a trek.
- Plan Fansipan around lunch. Sharia serves lunch from 11:00 to 15:00 only.
- Most halal kitchens close by about 21:00. Eat dinner early, especially in winter.
- Ask if certification matters to you. Four restaurants hold a current certificate on the Halal Vietnam certificate register: Sapa Halal Restaurant and its second branch, Rasa Sayang and Pak Tam. The certificates for Hajah Hawa and Sapa Halal Kitchen Faizal expired in mid-October 2026, so ask to see the renewed certificate there.
- Avoid street grills. The skewers and hotpots sold around Sapa Lake at night are usually pork or other non-halal meat.
