Halal Food and Muslim Travel Notes

  • Halal meals: lunches in Hanoi, Ninh Binh and the south are at halal restaurants – see halal restaurants in Hanoi and halal restaurants in Ninh Binh.
  • Halong Bay boat: day boats have no halal kitchen, so lunch on board is seafood or vegetarian with no meat. A halal lunch in Halong City can replace it on request (extra cost).
  • Ho Chi Minh City: halal restaurants are easy to find around the Saigon Central Mosque on Dong Du Street and near Ben Thanh Market. The city has several mosques; the tour visits the Saigon Central Mosque.
  • Mosques: Al-Noor Mosque is the only mosque in Hanoi and northern Vietnam.
  • Dress code: cover shoulders and knees at temples, the Mausoleum and the mosques.

Who This Tour Suits – and Who Should Choose Another

  • Good for: first-time visitors with one week who want to see both the north and the south.
  • Choose another tour if you want a night on Halong Bay and central Vietnam too – take the Vietnam Muslim Tour 9 Days – or if you prefer to stay in the north, see the Hanoi Muslim Tour 7 Days.
  • Keep in mind: Halong Bay is a day trip with about 5 hours of driving, and the domestic flight is booked separately.

Is 7 Days Enough for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City?

Yes, for the highlights of both cities and one day trip from each. With 2–3 more days you can add a night on Halong Bay and Hoi An in central Vietnam.

Customize Your Tour

  • Replace the Halong Bay day trip with a night on the halal-kitchen Mon Chéri cruise.
  • Add halal dinners every night.
  • Add Hoi An and Ba Na Hills between Hanoi and Saigon.
  • Reverse the route: start in Ho Chi Minh City and end in Hanoi (see the Saigon – Hanoi Muslim Tour 8 Days).
